eGo

My wife said: "The eGo was fun to ride, although it was a little funny looking." It is true the eGo is the most "scooter" looking of all the electric scooters we looked at. Since we need a scooter that can ride two people, it isn't appropriate for us. But it definitely was a well built, reasonably priced electric scooter.

One top-end feature it has is regenerative braking. While this reportedly only increases your range by 1% to 3%, it is nice to come to a stop sign without using your brakes. Weighing only 130lbs, it is the lightest scooter we tested, which makes it easier to put in the back of a truck if you happen to run out of juice. It also has an internal charger which is great for plugging into whatever wall socket you can find to charge away from home.

The eGo's are electronically limited to 24 mph and have a limited range of about 25 miles, so they are best for short errands. It uses a belt drive rather than a hub motor, but is still very quiet and this provides good torque.
